CHIP, CHIP HOORAY! Cromars Rolled into Edinburgh with a Festival Fry-Up Like No Other
This summer was a milestone for us at Cromars Classic Fish & Chips. For the very first time, we packed up our famous fish suppers and hit the road – taking Cromars from St Andrews to the heart of Edinburgh’s Festival season. From 1st to 25th August, our brand-new food truck became part of Innis & Gunn’s vibrant Stockbridge Social, and what a ride it was!
For years, we’ve been proud to serve the freshest Scottish fish, hand-cut chips, and food made fresh to order. Our loyal following in St Andrews and beyond has meant the world to us, with their support fulling our passion for championing both quality and sustainability.
But this summer, we wanted to do something different. Taking Cromars on tour had always been a dream, and finally, we made it happen. We launched our new Cromars Food Truck, styled in our signature ‘Surf Shack’ look – complete with lobster creels, surfboards, chilled-out tunes, and a laid-back seaside vibe.
At Stockbridge Social, we joined a brilliant mix of food, drink, and live music. Our truck quickly became a hub for Festival-goers, families, and plenty of four-legged friends (yes, we kept our dog-friendly treats on the menu – because no one gets left behind when Cromars is on tour!). Every portion was cooked fresh to order – no shortcuts, no hot plates, just the Cromars way.
Partnering with Innis & Gunn made it all the more special. Together, we created a true taste of summer: crisp beer, delicious fish and chips, and an atmosphere that felt like a slice of the Scottish seaside in the middle of Edinburgh.
As our owner, Wendy, put it:
“It’s always been a dream of ours to take Cromars on the road, and the Festival was the perfect starting point. It was vibrant, fun, and food-focused – just like us. We were thrilled to bring our fresh-to-order promise to Edinburgh and meet so many new customers who got to experience Cromars for the first time.”
Our time in Edinburgh marked the beginning of a bigger adventure: Cromars on Tour. We’ve got plans to pop up at more food festivals and events across Scotland – and we can’t wait to bring the Cromars experience to even more people.
To everyone who stopped by, grabbed a cone of chips, or raised a pint with us this August – thank you. You made our very first tour stop one to remember. Here’s to more sunshine, seaside vibes, and, of course, freshly cooked fish and chips.
